Dr Simon Speed obtained his dental degree from James Cook University receiving an academic merit for high achievement. He also holds a Bachelor of Science and completed a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Queensland in 2007. Prior to undertaking his dental qualification, he completed his medical residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and has worked for several years as a surgical registrar, predominantly in the fields of Orthopaedics and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

After completion of his dental qualification Simon decided that he enjoyed all aspects of general dentistry.

He then made the decision to defer his plans for a surgical career in order to join the team at Speedental.

His years of experience in general medicine bring with them a wealth of knowledge and skill and provides him with a special interest in managing dental patients with co-morbid illness and those with special needs.

Outside of work Simon is happily married to Ash, an anaesthetist, and they have a young daughter, Charlotte who keeps them on their toes. His other interests include skiing, cycling and keeping fit and he will happily discuss any of these topics at length at any time.
